Languid days,
light nights – summer is a season that calls for
needlework! Here are a few suggestions for some
pretty self-pampering projects, all of which
were inspired by the flowers of summer and the
special atmosphere that reigns during this
season. Enjoy!

ANGEL BAG
Lis Andersen designed this cute crocheted bag
especially for Sommerfuglen. The bag can be
endlessly personalized depending on which yarns you
use. Click on the image for a closer look at the
adorable flower detail that reveals itself as soon
as you open the bag. The bag is made using a number
3 crochet hook, and you can choose your yarns from
all the spectacular colors on the Kalinka colour
card.

JAPANESE ANEMONE
The garter stitch is perfect for creating this edgy
look in linen yarn, as the knitting technique causes
the scarf to automatically curl at each edge. It
doesn’t get any easier than this, and the only
difficult thing about it is choosing from YLLET’s
wide range of beautiful colors! The pattern itself
is free of charge.

how easy it is to create this stunning scarf.

PANSY
Lis Andersen has designed this pretty scarf
especially for Sommerfuglen’s One of a Kind series.
Crocheted in an elegant but easy-to-do lace pattern,
it creates an amazing look that belies its
simplicity. The pattern is well suited to scarves as
it doesn’t have an obvious reverse side. And of
course you can always use your leftover yarns to add
striking borders to the ends of your scarf.

POPPY
Our roadsides now are lined
with beautiful poppies that light our way, and wild
flowers are the source of inspiration for a series
of eight designs by British company Cleopatra’s
Needle. The needlepoint canvases come in a cute
little box with the pattern printed in color on the
front. Inside the box you find canvas, yarn,
diagram, needle and instructions in the half
cross-stitch technique used for this project. When
you’ve completed the canvas, use it as a pincushion
or fragranced pillow, frame it, or give it pride of
place on a bigger pillow made with extra border
material.
