The knitted star is a part of Norway's knitting tradition. The source of inspiration for this jacket came from a pair of mittens. Solveig Hisdal is not only aware of the knowledge housed in Norway's museums, she has also learnt how to use it. She has visited museums throughout the country searching for the textiles, chests, cabinets, and old folk costumes that have later become a source of her inspiration.The book, Poetry in Stitches became a result of her quest, and it shows how the creativity of the past has inspired her to make beautiful knitted designs. After the book has been discontinued, all kits from the book include patterns.
