Autumn/Winter - 2009/10

With resurgence in handicrafts and all things handmade, winter 2009/10 sees the celebration of traditional craftsmanship. Hand knitwear is the perfect opportunity for the discerning consumer to express their creative flair in an environmentally responsible way. Consumers are willing to invest their precious time and money creating ageless knitwear that offers quality, luxury and longevity With a continuing trend for natural fibres, yarns are light and fluffy, warm and airy or dense including matted, scrubbed, hairy and primitive. The heavily textured fabrics are infused with cashmere, baby alpaca, kid mohair and silk to create beautifully soft textured fabrics. Traditionally British fabrics such as tweeds, checks, tartans, fairisle and plaids are used as well as chunky structured cables in soft rounded and felted yarns completing the traditional craft inspired look. These trends are reflected in three major stories: Heritage, Shadowland and Folklore.

Sommerfuglen stock many of Rowan's yarns - please send an e-mail for further info.
