Crosstitch of the Year - 2009

The designer, Conni Schimmell, descibes the process behind the designs like this:
"My inspiration always comes from nature, which constitutes an infinite source of motifs to me, no matter whether the motif is going to be naturalistic or stylistically abstract. - I have chosen berries and berry-like fruits which generally originate from tiny and unimpressive flowers but develope into beautifully coloured berries. They can be found all year round and if you like to study birds you will also discover these berries. I have tried to depict a few of the many existing berries as naturalistically as possible, closely observed, either on a twig or a branch."

Except from the fine watercolours and the accompanying embroidery patterns the calendar also presents 12 photos of models with motifs from the embroideries - as usual.
